There is also a CA state park at the takeout where the world-longest covered bridge is. In that state park, many swimmers come to enjoy so pretty water in May. More information are available at cacreeks.com Darin McQuoid's blogsite A Wet State.
View from a eddy after a few classIV rapids. Still within a quarter mile from the putin.

Rapids of this and next two pics are in the above the Portage

Un-runnable rapids. Portage on the river left.

Slide Boof [El Boof] (IV) at 500 cfs

Slide Boof [El Boof] (IV) at 500 cfs. I think the gate was wrong on this date.

Slide Boof at 525 cfs, but flow looks lower than the above pic

After entering this rapid, the piton rock partially under the water is seen in the middle of our sights. Make quick left turn after the drop and go through.

Get small eddy for max three boats in the river right, but the ledge to this drop is very hard to see from that eddy.

This is river-wide twelve foot ridge (V-). Larry boofing at the "Ski Jump" in the far right of this falls.

The bottom looks so nasty hole, but "get speed, nose up and landing as horizontal as possible" works well.

When I ran the same 12 foot ridge for the first time, we took line in the far left of this rapid.

Double Airplane Turn (IV+). Enter from right, then go through left and eddy out in the left. Avoid a hole in the right of the end. 750 cfs.

Eat the Meat (V-). Enter from left, then go through right to avoid nasty holes. A Wet State describes well how to run this rapids

Corner Pocket (V) 750 cfs. I ran this only >700 cfs, shot from the last left eddy before this rapid.

Corner Pocket (V) 750 cfs.. Someone running at the ~10 feet ridge in the left. Right goes into a sticky hole.

Corner Pocket (V) 750 cfs.. Someone running at the ~10 feet ridge in the left. Right goes into a sticky hole. After the ridge, go right! Otherwise, there are undercut walls of the left riverbank.

View from downstream of Corner Pocket 525cfs.

Re-putin below the ridge, but above the undercut walls.

Re-putin just below the undercut walls.

Someone running in the center. Recently, we run in the river left to avoid a hole in the middle to right.
