Truckee river (II+)

Truckee river (Boca to Floriston, II+ with two classIVs)
I ran from Boca to Floriston of this river in mid August, 2007 with Kenya (my son), BruceT, BruceF from Reno, Don and Shelly from Napa and Suisan City, respectively. Truckee river begins from Lake Tahoe and runs on East slope of Hgh Sierras in Nevada. Flow was ~450 cfs, which is controlled by a dam at Lake Tahoe. Boca (elevation: 5,570 ft.) to Floriston (5,410 ft.) run is nice classII+ run, in particular, in summer while we have very limited choices for paddling and has sceanic view and comfortable air of highland.
BruceT made more description of this trip and some more info is available at cacreeks.

Putin.

Highway I-80 and Amtrack run along with this river for a while.

BruceT and Kenya.

BruceF running Jaws (classIV). Kenya portaged this rapid.

Blonco, photographed from takeout bridge. ClassIV- with 100 fpm gradient in half a mile. Because I did not get enough info before running this run and did not hear well what BruceF told me, I let Kenya run this rapids without knowing it about difficulty. Kenya followed my line exactly and did great jobs without any problems. Wow,woo!!
