MF Cosmunes (IV+)

Unlike ohter sierra rivers, we cannot expect enough flows by snow-melting. Only after much raining,it is runnable. Particulary for weekend paddlers, there might be only one chance a year. Fortunately, I could do this nice class IV+ run (9.6 miles) three times in 2005. There are many better pictures in the website Cosumnes River Middle Fork.

Half or three-quater mile hiking to the put in after parking.

Amphitheater Slot. A serious strainer is just below this drop. Someone was prepared to throw rescue rope on the river left.

Auto-Slalom. View from upstream of this rapid.
